BreyerFest Week: It's Pony Time!

At last, it's BreyerFest week!

And I always like to start BreyerFest week off by listening to rock and roll legend, Chubby Checker, as he sings an aptly named song, Pony Time. (Lyrics below.)

Whether you are staying home or heading to Kentucky, I hope you all have a wonderful week of friends and model horses!

Yeehah! It's pony time!

Pony Time recorded by Chubby Checker, 1961, lyrics by John Berry and Don Covay

It's pony time, get up
Boogety, boogety, boogety shoo...
Hey now let's party with the union hall,
It's pony time when ya hear this call,
So get with it,
Don't quit it,
Get up.
Do the pony with your partner,
With a big boss line,
Well anyway ya do it,
You're gonna look real fine,
So get with it,
Don't quit it,
Get up.
Now ya turn to the left when I say gee,
You turn to the right when I say haw,
Now gee, ya ya baby,
Now haw, ya oh baby, oh baby, pretty baby,
Do it baby, oh baby, oh baby,
Boogety, boogety, boogety, boogety shoo.
Gonna see little Suzie, who lives next door,
She's doin' the pony, she's takin' the floor,
Eeea ah, so get with it, don't quit it, come on,
Boogety, boogety, boogety, boogety shoo.
Do the pony with your pardner,
Oh in a big boss line,
But anyway you do it,
You're gonna look just fine,
So get with, Don't quit it,
Come on. Eeeaaah
Now you turn to the left when I say gee,
You turn to the right when I say haw,
Now gee, ya ya little baby,
Now haw, ya oh baby, oh baby, pretty baby,
Do it baby, oh baby, oh baby,
Boogety, boogety, boogety, boogety shoo.

It's Pony Time!

It's pony time! And to celebrate the start of BreyerFest, here's a ditty by Chubby Checker called just that - Pony Time

I stumbled across this song by accident while looking at some of the musicians Music City Son Cole has worked with in Nashville, but it sure fits the way I am feeling this morning as I wait for BreyerFest to open at 10:00! (Lyrics below.)

Some Nashville Pony Pal Time

BreyerFest Saturday was Cole's birthday. He lives in Tennessee and was just three hours away from Kentucky Horse Park so we left BreyerFest and headed down Saturday morning to spend the weekend with the birthday boy and his family.
Cole works in the music industry in Nashville and puts new talent together with managers. He meets some fascinating people in his line of work and sometimes sends his fan-girl mama a photo or two.
Squee!! Cole with Chubby Checker last September. (I asked Cole why Chubby Checker was working with him and Cole explained that even successful acts sometimes switch managers. Such was the case with Chubby.)

With Salt-N-Pepa at a Billboard event.

Cole and his wife Emily have three daughters, Julie, Kate, and baby Susan. Kate especially is a budding pony pal.

We were delighted to pull up to their home and see Kate and Julie watching for our car. Even better, they were holding something in their hands which they began waving at me as I got out of the car.

Model horses! Just look at those smiles!

After a flurry of hugs and greetings, the girls showed me their horses - three Schleich pieces that Kate carried around with her the entire weekend.
I'd brought a couple of crafts to do with the girls.
Even then, Pony Pal Kate had her favorite with her. (That was my favorite of the three, too, but then, I am partial to Appaloosas.)
I'd spray painted some wooden chests I'd gotten at Hobby Lobby in the girls' favorite color and brought along a large selection of stickers for them to use to decorate their boxes.
I can't paint a model horse worth a lick, but I sure can wield a can of spray paint! (Remember the gold FAM I made as the signing model for Happy Trails last month? Yep! Spray paint!)
After we finished our treasure boxes, can you guess what the first thing was that Kate put into hers?
Her Appaloosa! (She's holding Susie's box - Susie was too young to make her own, so Kate helped make it.) I thought that that was an excellent and very logical choice.

Kate carried Polly around with her the entire weekend and while Julie played with the Scleichs, too, she preferred her stuffed animals over the models.

Seems I have another budding horse lover in the family.
