We're lucky in that we have not had quite that much (maybe "only" 9-10 inches) here in west central Indiana, but it is still impacting us.
The road to the barn is partially underwater.
Normally this is a pretty lawn.
The lane to the new barn is also flooded.
Fortunately, the pastures are in good shape - they're squishy, but not underwater. At least, not yet.
Diablo's hooves have sunk into the turf.
The lane to the water trough is muddy and puddled.
But, at least the pastures don't look like this!
This soybean field near us is mostly underwater.
And, we have five pastures to rotate through, so if we do get some flooding, we should still have a place for the herd to go.
Rain is forecast for all next week. We may need an ark!
Do you ride Abby??

No. She was a rescue and, due to a slippered hoof, limped for over a year after her rescue. She no longer limps, and my barn owner, Tim, got on her, but it was clear she had never been ridden (although she did not buck and is certainly trainable.) I am older and have three artificial joints and had 11 orthopedic surgeries - training a horse is not something I am up to any more! So, she remains a pasture ornament but still brings me great joy.
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying reading about your training of Ollie and Cheyenne. The seem to be in very good hands with you!!

Well, even though you don't ride Abby she most certainly has a great time and it is obvious that she loves you in the pictures-Appy's, are the absolute best!!
DeleteThank you! Ollie is my special boy and he is just incredible. I cannot describe how much I love him and how much he has improved in the past few months. Cheyenne will take more work, but she is getting there!!
