The Model Horses of 2025

Yesterday my second Merry Dancer arrived. The only color that I didn't like was the Coal, but I wouldn't have complained had he arrived. I was hoping to get a pink or a green.

I opened the first one (pink!!) on Christmas Day. It was a gift from Craig. It was hard to wait to open it, knowing that under the tree was a mystery model horse!

I don't collect the Strapless mold (I sold the ones I had a few years ago) but I really do like the Merry Dancers.

Since the Merry Dancers didn't sell out right away, a week later or so Breyer opened the sale up for a second piece. I was hoping to get a green this time and put my order in.

I got my wish! It's really pretty, too.

After unwrapping it, I toyed with the idea of looking for a purple, but in the end decided not to. I love the two I have, but I don't collect the mold, plus the price is high for a mold I really don't care for. 

Strapless is also a shelf eater and has to be turned at an angle to fit on my shelves. Green and pink are enough for me.

On the docket for this winter is cleaning and rearranging my shelves along with doing a collection count. It's a big project that I only do every couple of years (love those white Ikea shelves that don't show the dust!) and will be even harder because, since the last time I did it, I have shrunk some more. (I'm down from 5' 7" a few years ago to 5' 5" - a two inch loss.)  Now I can just barely reach the top shelf horses and will need a ladder for those.

Plus, I can't stand very long, and cleaning and rearranging shelves requires that. This project is going to take more time than usual as a result.

But, it's a good snowstorm/Arctic chill blow-through project and the weather reports have been saying that those are on the way later this month.

In the meantime, I did do a count of the models I purchased or was gifted in 2025.

More than I thought and somehow they all were able to fit onto shelves.

Breyer dropped its 2026 regular run horses this week and there is nothing that I want among those, at least not yet. (Sometimes those Breyers can grow on you... Hah!) The BreyerFest horses are just beginning to be shown and I do like the single day Stablemates. 

Uppsala, the Swedish horse (rearing stallion) is a must have. It's my favorite traditional mold that's been shrunk down plus daughter-in-love Emily is Swedish/Canadian and lived in Uppsala while doing a year abroad study there in college.

Years ago I named my Lakeshore Marshall "Uppsala" in Emily's honor. So naturally I need to get the Breyer Uppsala.

As I said in another blog post, the Chinese Year of the Horse really does seem to be starting off in a good way. And there are no complaints from me!
