There's a New Shop in Town

I had mixed emotions when JoAnn's closed. It was a place where I bought a lot of thread and other craft supplies, and sometimes fabric, but I preferred other sources for that since what I sew is mostly for the historical market and JoAnn's carried little for that.

Still, I have missed it at times and have wondered what business might use that space next. Was I ever surprised by what took it over.

Boot Barn!

It just opened, and so of course Lisa and I headed over to take a look. (All photos by Lisa.)

Did we ever have fun! The place was full of things that make cowgirl hearts sing.

How about these purple suede dress boots?

I never would've thought I'd like a pink boot, but this rose colored pair was beautiful.

And then we saw THE boot.

Exactly my style.

"You could wear those to church, Mom!" Lisa cried. Oh, the temptation was rising.

So I tried them on.

They fit and felt comfortable. And I had been able to get them on easily. (Putting shoes on can be hard for me, depending on the shoe boot.)

Hmmmm....

I was beginning to think about putting together a cowgirl outfit for our 50th wedding party in December. (After all, I am a horsey girl!)

It is an open house and most likely I will be on my feet for long stretches at a time. The boots have a heel and that would be a concern. Although that will be a concern regardless of what shoes boots I wear.

I sure do like them. Hmmmm.

I set them back for the time being, but we took a photo of the tag in case I do go back to buy them and they are gone so that I can order them.

Lisa and I continued to wander the aisles looking at the merchandise.

The hats.

The jewelry and belt buckles.

The clothes.

Lisa pulled out a sweater that made us both smile.

"Try this on, Mom! It'll fit."

(Eyeroll from me.) "Lis, that is a size small. I do not wear a small. I have NEVER worn a small. I couldn't even fit a medium, let alone a small."

(Patient but exasperated voice.) "Mom. You have lost a lot of weight. It will fit. Trust me. Put it on."

Well, what do you know? She was right. I was really taken aback that it had fit. Comfortably.

So now I am thinking of getting the sweater and the boots both and wearing them to the anniversary party. And when I shared that idea with Craig, his eyebrows rose and he asked, "So does that mean I don't have to wear a suit?"

You got it, cowboy. Wear what you want. And why don't you and I head on back to Boot Barn and see what we can find for you?

Stay 'tooned!

  1. So glad your Internet is back and you are online again!
My unsolicited boot-buying tip: Look at Ariat if you’re going to be on your feet a lot. They make the most comfortable boots!
