Let me tell you - it was a weekend. Good things happened, but I did not get Sunday's blog post written in advance, and Craig and I had a speaking engagement Sunday morning so I just didn't have the time to write. I really missed that part of my daily routine. I love to write.
The weekend started early Friday morning with a drive down to Indy where we met our dearest friends for breakfast. They moved to Indy three years ago and we miss them very much, so when Lisa called and asked if we had time to get together, we were all in.
Craig, me, Lisa, and Pat.
We didn't get back home until almost lunch time and the schedule for the rest of Friday had little wiggle room. Pepper got her monthly injection of percorten that afternoon, Lisa and Craig went out to dinner and then the West side football game, and I went to a dinner/shower for a friend's daughter, getting home late.
Saturday was equally busy. We were invited to a gathering in Indianapolis with Belle's family, leaving home at lunch and not getting home until after dark again.
It turned out to be a (mostly) barn family gathering, too. Here we all are, cleaned up with no hay in our hair or "dirt" on our shoes.
Sunday morning Craig and I both had speaking engagements. I had my remarks prepared, but was up early to go over them and make any last minute changes. I flopped on the couch briefly (with Pepper cuddling close) and shut my eyes for a half hour or so, but all too soon it was time to get ready to leave.
After we'd spoken, there were those who wanted to greet us or chat and say hello. Lisa, Curt, Vanessa, Ian, Mila, and Lukas were all in the audience, but by the time we were free, they'd had to leave. By that point, we were both exhausted. We drove home, laid down, and fell sound asleep. (This time with both Pepper and Tammo cuddling close.)
We get together as a family on the 2nd and 4th Sundays for dinner and Lisa kindly offered to cook the meal last night. We still gathered at our home, but she made a delicious soup and I found the energy after our naps to make a couple of loaves of pumpkin bread, my favorite quick bread, and a pan of brownies. (Because, brownies.)
This morning I am still tired, but I don't feel quite so exhausted. A good thing because Boot Barn opens in the old JoAnn's across town today (not complaining that JoAnns was replaced by Boot Barn!) and Lisa and I are heading over to shop this morning. I have my eye on a pair of blue boots...
Stay 'tooned!
