The Hermit Life

Ever thought you'd like to walk away from it all? Maybe go up into the mountains or a deserted place and be alone? There have been times where I have thought that a little solitude might be nice, but I have discovered that being a hermit isn't much fun.

It's been almost two weeks since I got sick which necessitated rescheduling my pancreatic surgery. I'm healthy again, but I have another eight days before surgery. That's eight more days of staying out of the public and hanging out at home while I try to remain healthy.
Fortunately, I can go out to the barn. The only people out there are Tim and me, and I usually am out in the morning while he is there in the late afternoon so our paths don't cross. (Those birds that you can barely see are a recently fledged family of barn swallows - the old barn is full of them!)
I park my car at the new barn and walk through a couple of pastures to get to the old barn where the horses like to hang out. Abby usually sees me coming and is waiting at the gate, nickering softly to me as I approach.
I am so glad that I have this girl to visit.
She's a little bit of much needed normalcy right now.
