Found! A Chalky Appaloosa Performance Horse

I have been looking for a chalky Appaloosa Performance Horse for years. When he was first released, I did not like the mold (that tail!) and so I chose other Breyers over him when I was buying new pieces for my collection. But, I did love the color - it is probably my favorite of all the colors Breyer has ever produced.Recently I found a really nice one. It was a smidge over what I wanted to pay, but because it was so nice and my search had been so long, I purchased it. (Photo by seller.)The color is one of Breyer's most popular and has been used for several Vintage Club offerings.

And they all have the smile-inducing double dots on the back.
The free Vintage Club stablemate in 2012 was Eagle. This was the first year for the club, and we vintage collectors were thrilled to see that APH appaloosa color used again.
The next year, Halo, the Stretch Morgan in the APH appaloosa coloring, was one of the four Vintage Club offerings. I was surprised to see the color used in the Vintage Club so soon again, but I sure wasn't going to complain as I loved it!
We had to wait six more years until 2019 when Leopold was released for Vintage Club members on the Fighting Stallion mold.
Of course, by then I had begun a serious search for the original Appaloosa Performance Horse to add to my collection. I bought this non chalky piece in 2017.

But still I kept looking for the chalky version. I found and rejected many on various sales sites - either the price was more than I was willing to pay, or the model was in poor shape (and even a few that were a combination of the two - high price/beat up horse.)
This guy has some flaws, but they are minor and hard to see. I am pleased to have finally completed my search! (Photo by seller.)

New Ponies!

Breyer's 70th Anniversary may be a tough year on my pocketbook. (I doubt that I am alone in that!) The evidence is on my craft table.
Not only does it have my NaMoPaiMo project and supplies, but some models that are out as I prepare for my first live show of the year and several new models as well. I put the new ones there until I could get them photographed, tagged, entered into my database, and then finally, put on the shelves.
The 70th Anniversary  Indian Pony is STUNNING! This sweet mare is one of my favorite molds.
Surprise! I bought a new mold! But who could resist this gorgeous Hamilton in palomino?
My 2019 Vintage Club freebies, Stablemates Misty and Stormy, have arrived. (I wonder why Breyer did not give Stormy her own blue ribbon?)
Yep, another new mold - Carter, Breyer's first web special of 2020. Photos do not do his color justice.
I saw this sweet Cantering Welsh Pony listed on eBay for only $8. I did not have this piece in chestnut, and this girl, although a little yellowed, is lovely.
Breyer made their annual Christmas blanket in red, green, and black. Unfortunately this black one is a duplicate for me, so I will see if I can trade it for a green one.
Finally, a new clinky (and a non Breyer) - Lone Star, a special run for Lone Star Live in 2002. He has nice detail.

If this is just a taste of what Breyer will be offering this year, then I can hardly wait to see what else is coming for collectors!

Vintage Club Lillian & Molly

Vintage Breyers are my collecting focus (er, besides circus ponies...) and Breyer's Vintage Collectors Club is my favorite out of all the clubs they offer. Saturday, the last offering of 2019 arrived.
Lillian (the mare) and Molly (her filly) are done on the old Thoroughbred Mare and Foal molds.
They're not an overly popular mold unless you are an avid vintage collector like me and I absolutely love this pair.
Breyer has been using the old picture boxes from the past, too, another aspect of this duo that I really like.

All that is left for 2019 club members is the free Stablemate to be released and that usually happens in November. And I'll be joining up again next year - included in the box was a photo of one of next year's offerings.

They're bringing back the old grooming kits!!

I can't wait to see the other pieces in the 2020 Vintage Collectors Club.
