The REAL Give Me an X!

Shortly after I'd published yesterday's post, I got a message from Jenifer Buxton. She and Anne Field have been writing "Give Me a..." posts, too. Somehow I made a goof when we divvied up the letters - Jennifer had said she'd do the letter X, and had actually written and published it last August. Oops! 

Jennifer graciously gave me permission to share her post on my blog. (If you'd like to read it on hers, go here.) So, here is an equid whose name doesn't just contain an X, it starts with it!

In honor of Karen Crossley, a Canadian hobbyist and active blogger who passed away in 2020. Lynn Isenbarger, Anne Field and I are finishing Karen's alphabetical tour of her collection. Today's letter is X. 

Breyer's traditional scale zebra was sculpted by Kristina Lucas-Francis and released in 2000.

At the time, I was sharing a red brick duplex on Xenia Street with my husband, our infant son, Ryan,

my dog, Abbie...

and Seth's bird, Festus.

The duplex was really small, but I was able to carve out a little space for tack making.

This was the very beginning of Braymere Custom Saddlery as an actual money making venture. Most of my profits went towards bills and supplies, but occasionally, I treated myself to a new model.

One of these was the Breyer zebra. I bought her from an eBay seller and named her Xenia.

I always meant to get a second one - preferably customized - to call Xanthia, which was the next street over. It never happened so Xenia remains the only X model in my alphabet.

This is my last post in this series. Thank you to Anne and Lynn for joining me on this journey. It took us more than two years, but I am so glad we were able to finish Karen's alphabet.
