Double Lucky Find!

Since I was at home for BreyerFest and couldn't shop at the Clarion, I went to one of my favorite antique malls and did a little shopping there instead. 

Imagine my surprise when I came around a corner and spied not one but two Western Ponies with grooming kits.

And for just $3 each! They were in my shopping cart before you could blink.

Both are in need of a bath and the removal of some sticker residue

But they have no breaks or major rubs.

One has a hind leg a little more forward than the other and both grooming kits have some tears in the vinyl from someone removing them.

But I am still thrilled with this find. They were made from 1958 - 1971 and so they are 51 - 64 years old.

Finding one of something is the usual collector's scenario. Finding two of the exact same thing? Makes me wonder if they belonged to two family members who have kept them together all these years. Perhaps they were Christmas gifts to two young siblings that were left behind as they became adults and have now found their way into an antique shop.

Hard to tell but fun to speculate. 

I plan to clean these up and keep one while the other is a gift for Liz Cory to thank her for picking up my BreyerFest models for me. 

BreyerFest Week: Home "Room Sales"

BreyerFest officially begins today (even though most of us have been celebrating the entire week.) My plan is to be online as much as possible, and I can't wait to hear what the Rotating Draft Surprise model is. (My guess is Othello with Wixom a close second, although I am hoping the vintage Clydesdale will be used, too.)

Since I am not at BreyerFest in person, I have been replicating the experience at home as much as I can. 

I've been wearing my PROST! Ambassador shirt every day (which means laundry each night before bed, but that's okay) and doing model horse things throughout the day. 

It has worked amazingly well in banishing my FOMO and actually been a lot of fun. 

Thursday I decided to go to a favorite antique mall and do some shopping, just as I would if I were in Kentucky and wandering the halls of the Clarion.

I haven't done much antiquing since the pandemic struck, and it was fun to walk the aisles and looks for HSOs. (Horse shaped objects.)

Liz was doing the same thing back at the Clarion in Kentucky - she has been awesome about sending me pics of things she thinks I might be interested in. (She texted me this pic while I was shopping myself. I was interested but I already have this piece.)

There were not a lot of Breyers to be found

but there were still a lot of HSOs to enjoy.

I fell in love with this trash can but it was priced at $88 so I left it behind. 

And then I rounded the end of an aisle and saw this.

Not one, but TWO Western Ponies with grooming kits!

And for only $3 each! Those ponies were in my cart as fast as I could grab them.

I finished walking through the entire mall but did not find anything more. That was okay - those two Western Ponies were good finds and I was floating on air while I finished roaming those "room sales" aisles.

More to come on those ponies and the other models I have bought this week, but for now, I need to scoot. BreyerFest opens at 9:00 and I need to run out to the barn and check the herd and then pick up some snacks.

Vintage Club Trailblazer

Oh, Breyer, I wish you celebrated your anniversary every year! The offerings, both regular run, club, and special runs for 2020 are awesome!

Trailblazer is the first offering to Vintage Club members.

Not only does he come with a slip saddle, but he has the old style grooming kit, too!

And a hang tag!

His color is beautifully done, too. 

Breyer, you outdid yourself with this one and I can't wait to see the next Vintage Club offering!
