A Meaningful Service Recognized

Recently, I have been feeling as though I am working again instead of being retired. I am so busy, I feel like I am charging from one thing to another and still my wheels are spinning!

Part of it is because The Feast of the Hunters' Moon is approaching, but that isn't the only project that is keeping me hopping. I'm in physical therapy a couple of times a week, seeing several other doctors, (and the dentist this morning), I've been in charge of the barn, and I've been helping a woman buy her first horse. (More on that another time.)

The Mish Mosh folder of topics continues to grow, but so does the folder of longer happenings to write about. Yesterday I fully intended to write a second post, but I was so busy, I never got back to my computer to do it.

Having said all that in a tongue-in-cheek complaint, I am glad to have things to do. They give my life meaning, especially when I am helping someone. (Even more when that help is horse related! LOL)

Craig, too, likes to do meaningful things. One of his causes is blood donation. Not only is there a big need overall for blood, but his blood has a very rare something or other in it and is difficult to find. He donates regularly and just hit the EIGHT GALLONS DONATED mark! Talk about being committed!

To thank him for his service, the blood bank surprised him with two tickets to an Indiana Fever game that included complimentary food, tees, and other things.

Traveling to Indy, wandering around the fieldhouse concourse, hiking up stairs to seats... more than I could do, so he took Curt with him instead of me. (How ironic - I just noticed that Craig's shirt is red!)

I watched the game at home, although I am not the fan that Craig and Curt are. Craig has been a Caitlin Clark fan since she was playing college ball at Iowa and Sarah and Trinity were crowing about her talents and attending her games. (Unfortunately, she was injured and didn't play that evening.)

They had a terrific time together and were thrilled that the free tees were Caitlin Clark ones!

Like I said, the tickets were an unexpected surprise for him. He donates because he cares and while he knew he was about to hit the eight gallon mark, he had no idea the blood bank would recognize or thank him that way.

It was a nice gesture made even better by the fact that Craig is a true fan of the Indiana Fever.

  1. What a wonderful post. Congratulations Craig! How meaningful, even to those who don't go to games or follow sports. A famous preacher once quoted 'my favorite thing is to do a good deed in secret and have it found out by accident.'

  2. Yay, Craig! My husband and I are giving blood next weekend, as our church hosts regular blood drives every four months. 😁🩸

  4. Thank you, Craig! And thank you to all blood donors. Having been on the receiving end of transfusions several times, you are all heroes to me!
