Holiday Horsiness: Scene Set Up

 Before I got Little Lynn and Circus Girl, I had an early Brenda Breyer that I used to set up a scene or two as a holiday decoration.

The first year that I did that I was never really happy with it, but it was sufficient and so I made do.

I improved the next year and was happier - removing the doll and standing the books up in the display case made a big difference.

Still, I wasn't happy with the scene, and so I put the props into storage for a couple of years. 

Then, Anne Field made me Circus Girl

and Little Lynn.

That renewed my interest in setting up scenes, and after having fun creating and showing scenes in several photo shows this fall, I decided to try again at making some sort of holiday scene.

From setting up the scenes for the photo shows, I'd discovered that I really liked as plain a background as possible,

and that I liked a plain white background best.

So, I decided to not worry about creating the room or barn in which the holiday scene took place, but to concentrate on the things that were actually IN the scene.

First up was redecorating the tree. - it had been used for some of those performance scenes and I'd removed all the ornaments from it. Now was a good time to remake those and then replace them onto the tree.

Then I pulled out my models that were in holiday colors - Carnivale, Ivy, the Christmas Candy Zebras, Emerald, my gold Valegro... 

... and realized right away that not all of them were going to fit onto the shelf I'd selected for setting up the holiday scene. So I plopped the tree in the middle and began trying different arrangements with all those models.

I'm not done yet - Little Lynn needs to be added for one thing. Maybe I will wrap some small boxes for packages under the tree or get some tiny lights and hang them as a frame. 

Lots to think about, but my office suddenly feels quite festive!
