BreyerFest 2021 - Sunday

The title of this blog entry is a bit of a misnomer - I didn't do anything related to BreyerFest on Sunday. Both Craig and I are very active in our church and our Sundays are spent in activities related to that as well as with our family.

Even though I didn't look online at BreyerFest on Sunday, I have looked a few things up to find out what happened while I was away.

A surprising amount of the Breyer merchandise did not sell out (Kaleidescope, Prisma, Favrile, and others.) While some folks prefer the BreyerFest models to be very limited, I am actually glad that there was enough to go around for all who wanted them.

Next year's theme for BreyerFest has been announced - PROST! I googled it and from what I can find, the word is German and means, May it be useful, May it be beneficial, or Cheers. I hope there is a German Warmblood as one of the 2022 BreyerFest models!

The Breyer auction is always held on Sunday, and this year it raised $178,500. The big sellers were the glossy dapple bay Racking Saddlebred ($18,000), and the Semi Rearing Mustang and Akhal-Teke ($17,000 each). 

As for shopping, I got everything I had hoped to buy or have already traded for it. Pech Merle was my top choice with the Surprise Horse second. I got Tisilli instead of the Surprise Horse, but was able to trade him for the Surprise. I also bought Palette, the plushie, to give as a gift to one of the grands.

A question that remains unanswered is, what mold is the Surprise Horse? There is a strong argument that it is Dundee (I hope, I hope, I hope!)

Neither Wyatt nor the Cleveland Bay are models I collect, but I never say never until I have seen the model in-hand. The VIP folks should be getting their models soon, so hopefully we will find out by mid week.

Now that BreyerFest is over, the hobby collectively takes a deep breath, checks the damage to their bank accounts, and tries to catch up on some sleep. 

And we start planning and saving for next year.
