"Ah, Youth!"

One of the more unusual horsey items in my collection shows how naive kids can be, especially me.

Or, as Sam the Snowman said in Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, "Ah, youth!"

Do you know what this nifty glass is that I picked up at a flea market way back when I was in high school?

Why yes, that is a shot glass - something this non drinker had never even heard of back then. It was horsey, it was cute, and it was only fifty cents, so I snagged it!

The front side has a horse head while the back side has a derby, crop, and stirrup irons.

A quick look on ebay for "vintage horse shot glass" brought several up, but I couldn't find much information about it. My guess is that it is from the 1940s due the style and colors.

It looks a lot like my vintage 1940s equestrian tablecloth with a similar style and limited color scheme.

My parents got a kick out of my having bought that shot glass. While they drank occasionally, I chose not to at an early age and so to have their teetotaler daughter come home with a shot glass really made them laugh. (I smile about it now, too.)

Tomorrow I'll take another "shot" at this topic. (Haha!)

Stay 'tooned!

  1. I love old printed table cloths. I have a couple of them. Not a horsie one tho!
