BreyerFest Loot: BreyerFest, Brahms, & Bach

Descriptors of me: vintage mold lover, Appaloosa aficionado, musician who can trace her musical training genealogy back to her favorite composter, Bach.* 

Aside from his name, Brahms fits all those parameters. And I am not going to quibble about a name when Breyer puts out a model this lovely.

I love the unusual black front leg.

Pinking areas of a model has become highly popular in the hobby, and can be overdone and distracting. But when it's done well, like it is on Brahms, it is realistic and beautiful. 

The speckling of the lighter spots gives this model a sense of realism.

With all those spots, I wondered if I would be peeling off bits of masking like I did when Dani arrived. (Which would be a problem since Brahms is glossed and the masking would be under that gloss.) But none have been found.

Brahms is one of the "Big Three" classical composers (Brahms, Bach, and Beethoven.) For fun, here is one of Brahm's most famous pieces, Hungarian Dance No. 5. It's only a little more than three minutes long and most likely will be familiar to you. Give it a listen - it's worth it.

*So, what did I mean when I said that my music training traced back to Bach? When I was working on my Masters (in Fine Arts & Science) I was in an upper level music history class with an instructor who showed us his "musical genealogy" - a tracing back from himself to his music teacher to the person who taught that person and so on until the names went all the way back to Bach.

And then he turned to us and said, "And, since I am teaching you and am a part of your musical training, you can add your name to the chain as someone who can trace their musical training back to Bach."

I still get a thrill out of knowing that. And somewhere I have that genealogy - if I ever come across it, I'll share.
