Halloween - What a Day!

Halloween was quite a day! Fifteen bags of candy later, we had to turn out our porch lights to stop the hordes from ringing our bell. Not that we minded - not at all. We like kids and it is fun to see the costumes and hear their chatter.  Full marks to the kids that came to our door for politeness, too. Lots and lots and LOTS of thank yous.

The timing for Fall color was perfect here. Our maple trees usually have vibrant color, but they don't always time it with Halloween itself like they did this year.

Local Son Curt has loved the film, The Nightmare Before Christmas, since he was little.

He made for a very dapper Jack Skellington this year. But that wasn't the only television/film nod.

Lukie as a Bakugan. I'm not clear as to what that is or why he's sitting in a booth, but hey, he was having fun!

 

Mila and her friends were a mixed bunch. Mila is Hermoine from Harry Potter.

Cole and Emily's kids wore inflatable costumes (on the bottom right) - a caterpillar (Susie), puppy (Kate), and a chicken (Julie.)

My adult children loved this picture and say it reminded them of their own trading/sorting sessions after trick or treating. I, too, smiled when I saw it - it really did bring back fond memories.

There was a sad note to the day. Cambria had been planning to go trick or treating with her dear friend, T.

Their plan was to go trick or treating together as cheerleaders.

Sadly, T has a very serious illness, and had to be hospitalized again just before the holiday. Good thoughts, prayers, karma, whatever you are most comfortable with, but T sure could use those if you are willing. She's only eleven and it breaks my heart that she is so, so ill.

One last thing to share about this year's Halloween...

Our family received a very sweet treat. For Craig and me, you could say it was great, even grand!
