Running an Errand to the Barn

I don't mind running errands, not in the least, especially when it means I must swing past the barn. That was what I needed to do yesterday afternoon, although I actually ended up going to the barn TWICE - I left the bag of Breyers at home and had to go back home to get it!

Barn Buddy Kelsey had dropped off some extra BreyerFest models for me to go through (thanks, Kelsey!), and I needed to return what I did not buy.

That done, I went out to the southeast pasture for a visit with the ponies.

None of the horses were feeling very social - I couldn't even tempt them with a peppermint! And since the ground is sloped and very uneven in that pasture, I wasn't eager to hike out to the herd.

Finally Two Socks deigned to grace me with her presence, and got a few of the peppermints I'd brought for my girl. (See Abby peeking her head around Hokey's rump? That white blaze is unmistakable! She's interested in what I'd brought, but not THAT interested. Goofy girl!))

I decided to go check the water trough and then try visiting again so I walked around the new barn to the trough. As I came around the corner, I spied Tim's trailer sitting in the middle of the paddock.

The back end was open. Curious, I walked over to it.

I'd never actually seen the inside of the trailer - Tim has always kept it shut and I had no business opening it up to have a look. (Although I am sure Tim would not have minded and would have been happy to let me check it out.)

It was quite clean and had been pulled into the horses' paddock and left with the ramp down. My guess was that Two Socks is being trained to load in a trailer and Tim had left it like that so that she would become familiar with it.

Curiosity satisfied, I checked the water and then headed back to the southeast pasture hoping that Abby would come up this time.

She was still not interested in a visit, so I watched her for a while to make sure it was not because she was hurting, sick, or injured. Nope! She was fine. I think she was just feeling a bit lazy and peppermints were not enough to bring her up. (I have days like that, too, only sub in "chocolate" for "peppermints.")

I put the remainder of the peppermints back in my trunk, called goodbye to Abby, and headed back home.
