The FAMulous Show - Wrap Up

This will be the last post reporting on the FAMulous Show. While there are results that still need to be typed and some other at-home wrap up to do, most of the hard work is done.

During lunch we had a fun class for Family Arabian Mares only. The premise was that class entries would be the entrant's favorite FAM and they were to write a paragraph or two as to why that piece was so special. Every entrant and judge was given three blue jeweled chips to use for voting on the piece they thought should win.

It was an amazing class, and the stories about the models were so interesting! The alabaster mare on the right was the winner; its owner even had photos of herself holding it in family photos.
I was so happy with our awards. We deliberately chose to use Breyer's colors since the bulk of our classes were for OF plastics. Feedback on the awards was very positive.
Every entrant got a packet with a welcome letter, a bookmark, a medallion commemorating the show, a free raffle ticket, a squishy rubber horse, and three blue voting chips.
Knowing my distaste for unicorns, judge Nancy Kelly brought me this hilarious tee shirt. It makes me smile every time I put it on.
We had a ribbon recycling program and I came home with several ziploc bags of ribbons to go through.
I've already done some sorting, but for the most part, I will wait until after the holidays. Sorting ribbons seems like a good snow day sort of activity.

Allison and I are happy with how the show went and have been pleased and even a bit surprised at the positive interest the show has generated on social media. Clearly there is a place for collectibility shows - we already have people talking about flying in for it next year. We also have four people who have offered to judge next year, including two of our judges from this year.

The date is set for the next FAMulous Collectibility Show - August 8, 2020. Get it on your calendars!

The FAMulous Show - Raffle Items

The day of the show, a lot of raffle items were handed to us - so many of the entrants had generously brought items to donate.
The show hall had a stage and long tables were set up for the items - we got so many the day of the show that we had to set up a third table to hold them all.
Luckily for us, judges Cristine Holt and Tara Oliver pitched right in and set up all those new items for us.

I have posted most of the raffle items that were received prior to the show here and on Facebook, so these photos are of the things that arrived on Saturday morning before the show.
We had a lot of very collectible vintage tack
and some swag from The Mares in Black!

This little goat tying set was a very hot item.

This plushy donkey was another hot item.

I focus on Traditionals for the most part, but I do love the Zodiac horses!

Tomorrow's blog entry will wrap up the show report.

The FAMulous Show - Droolicious Models

This is a very picture-intensive post with lots of photos of the models that were at the show. My original goal was to take pictures throughout the day, especially of the section and division champions and reserves.

But... it was just too much. My post-op energy levels are still low, and I ended up crashing twice during the show and having to lie down on a couch in the church's youth center to recuperate. Many of these are from one of our judges, Tara Oliver. (Thank you, Tara!) More photos are on Facebook - Allison posted quite a few as did several entrants.  Go there to see more of the truly phenomenal models that competed at The FAMulous Collectibility Show!
