Shipshewana is my kind of town.
Horses are everywhere!
The roads have special lanes along each side to accommodate the horses and buggies. The horses are driven at a trot as they pull the buggies and carriages. Standardbreds are the breed most used to pull the vehicles.
Friday night many Amish families had driven into town for dinner at The Bluegate. There is a special parking area with hitching posts for the buggies.
As the sign says, park a car there and it will be towed - buggies only!
Manure is a constant throughout town (which doesn't bother me a bit.)
Amish homes are very distinctive - they tend to be wider and be a series of buildings attached to each other by enclosed porches and walkways.
Here's a good example of that.
Even the decor in my motel was horsey!
Next up - the Stone show.
