Vintage Club - Thoroughbred Champion

The third release in the 2021 Vintage Club is out and it is a stunner!

It's Classic/Freedom sized and on the Terrang mold, a mold that Maureen Love originally sculpted for Hagen Renaker.

It came in its own box which was tucked (tightly) into a Breyer shipping box.

Breyer states on its web site that it is a throwback to the Presentation Collection from the early 1970s. (Photo from Identify Your Breyer.)

Unlike those pieces, Throughbred Champion is not attached to the base - he simply stands on it and can be removed. That makes the piece more versatile, but personally I would've preferred it to be attached.

Phoenix Rising also stands on a base without being attached, and is far more easy to tip over than my other Silver molds who have no base. (Granted Phoenix Rising is on two legs and a tail for balance while Thoroughbred Champion is on four legs and should be more stable.)

Hang tag front.

Hang tag back.

Despite my reservations about a free standing horse on a base, I am happy with this Vintage Club offering.

Next up for the fourth and final offering will be the hugely popular Brighty in a Gambler's Choice of the original decorator colors (gold charm, florentine, copenhagen, and wedgewood.) Several Vintage Club members have already received offers for some pretty hefty money for Brighty even though it has not yet been released. (Nor have any photos of it, either.)

I am looking forward to seeing what he looks like when he is released.

  1. Just got mine today, too. It is sooo handsome! Don't forget VC members also have the charcoal Marabella and foal bonus models to purchase if desired this year, too. They sound lovely!
