The Great Lakes Congress Show - People and Ponies

While I love the showing aspect of model horses, one of the best things about being at a show is the people!

Shannon Rodgers is one of the nicest, friendliest people you will ever meet. (If you ever see her, ask to see her custom circus horse Bravado. Oh! My! Goodness!! What a model!)

She gifted me with a couple of metal circus horses and people at the show, and the ringmaster from that set helped me win the Anything Goes class.

Nancy Falzone was also at the GLC show. She and I go way back to the 1990s. We were both at an auction and eyeing the model horses that would be up for bidding. She and Michelle Oviatt came over to me and Michelle asked if I was a model horse collector. When I said that I was, Nancy turned to Michelle and crowed, "I KNEW she was one of us!" She and I still laugh about that.

Nancy sat down next to my table at the show and we chatted most of the day.

I was glad she was there and able to see my HR Tennessee Arabian Mare get the blue ribbon. Her name is Nancy's Love, a combination of Nancy's name and Maureen Love's.

Nancy enjoyed looking at the china pieces I'd brought to show. She said my Sherif was one of the nicest she'd ever seen and asked if she could buy it from me. But Sherif is already spoken for.

Years ago Teacher Daughter Lisa had asked if she could have him "some day." (Pony Pal Mila was blunter when she asked for one of my models. "Can I have this when you're dead, Grammy?")

Others of my models did well. Vader Too won the Other Pure/Mix class. (He's my second Cheval Friesian. I sold my first and regretted it, so I bought another!)

Lone Star qualified for NAN.

Tinker Toy, another Cheval, won his class.

I didn't show a lot of plastics and I didn't take any photos of those classes, but West took second place in a very large OF Plastic Saddlebred class (aka the Hamilton class.) 

Horsiemama's Haversacks & Mercantile has been in business long enough that I now see a lot of things I've sewn on tables or even in classes at live shows.

Linda Jensen used a petite pony pad that I'd made to show off her beautiful HR Saddlebred.

Sadly, between showing, selling, and chatting with Nancy, I didn't get other photos of friends. Still, I did get to catch up with several long time friends, and I drove home happy and tired Saturday night.

I'm already looking forward to the next GLC show.
