Second Post of the Day - Meet Tammo

Meet our new house guest - Tammo!

He is a two year old mostly-Lab and a very sweet boy. Tammo belongs to our Florida family and is staying with us while they are traveling for a while.

Kyle drove up last weekend and stayed with us a few days so that Tammo could acclimate to us (and the weather in Indiana.) 

Kyle also surprised Lukie by showing up at his 6th birthday party. Like that tool belt and the tools Lukie is sporting? He wanted a chain saw for his birthday so he could "make things." Um, no. No chain saw. But yes to other tools that are less dangerous. 

Anyway! We had a wonderful visit with Kyle and enjoyed a family gathering for dinner Sunday evening. 

Tammo loves kids. 

He loves toys, too. Pepper has two baskets of them in the living room. She picks out one at a time to play with and we rarely have more than a couple on the floor at a time.

Tammo, on the other hand, sees those toy baskets as a bonanza.

He pulls everything out onto the living room floor and then chooses what he wants to play with. And if I pick them all up and put them back into the baskets, he pulls them out again within a few minutes.

A really unusual aspect of living with Tammo is that he has no confidence in walking on wood or tile floors. We have no idea as to why - he was rescued as a puppy and joined Kyle's family at eight weeks of age. But Kyle says he is afraid of their tile floors, too.

We have had to gather throw rugs, towels, and blankets from all over the house to give him access to places we are. 

If he wants to be with us badly enough, he will test the floor with a paw or two.

But mostly he just sits and hopes we will bring him a rug or towel to walk on. Here he is, "stuck" in the sewing room with Pepper (sleeping on my sweater) and me.

Having said that - Tammo is getting braver and bolder. (I think FOMO plays into it, too. Like most Labs, he loves people.)

We worried a bit about how Nash and Tammo would get along. Ever since he was hurt so badly by that pit bull who climbed over a fence and attacked him, he has been leery of dogs he does not know, especially big ones like Tammo.

Clearly, there is no problem between them. In fact, Nash has been delighted that Tammo will play with him for long periods of time. 

So far, so good in and among the collection, but I wouldn't be surprised if he sets off a domino affect sooner or later. I'll deal with that when it happens.

In the meantime, we are enjoying some unexpected time with a very sweet boy.
