With me waiting for Prague to ship (still no reply to emails or my phone call), I have been checking my USPS account daily and watching hoping for his tracking to show up.
To my surprise, on Monday I discovered that a package from Pennsylvania was on the way to our home. I had nothing else on order from anywhere and a quick check with Craig was the same - he wasn't expecting any packages, either. Who had sent one of us something?
Yesterday tracking indicated it would be delivered that day and the package, despite hailing from Pennsylvania, actually was from Breyer.
I figured it had to be my Vintage Club membership welcome letter and card, but Breyer had always sent those in a regular envelope, not a sturdy cardboard mailer with tracking attached. But that indeed was what was inside.
My membership card - I joined the year the club began and have all of these cards in a binder.
An included bonus was a replica of the 1963 dealer's catalog.
It had been shrunk down to a 7" x 5 1/2" booklet.
Pretty cool although the small size made some of the text difficult to read.
As for the surprising method of getting these materials to me, my guess is that Breyer is working to ensure that club members actually received them - the tracking would help with that (both Breyer and club members.) "Where's my JAH?" and "I never got my JAH" are fairly common complaints when that is mailed; I'm guessing that that may have also happened with past club memberships.
Regardless of the why in the switch of mailing method, I was happy to get my club items and spent some enjoyable time reading through everything yesterday afternoon.
I did get into the sewing room as I'd hoped and got those pockets completed. I'll share about those and some other sewing news in an upcoming blog post.
