Celebrating Jenny

Leslie and I hosted a birthday party for our youngest sister, Jenny, last night at The Beef House in western Indiana. It is always worth the hour's drive and was where Jenny really wanted to celebrate.

(See that Fighting Stallion Leslie is holding? More on that in tomorrow's blog post.)

It was a big birthday, and the year she was born was the same year the The Beef House was established.

Teacher Daughter Lisa helped us out with the cake - teachers have so many cupcakes and cakes brought in for students' birthdays that they KNOW where to find the best cake in town. Need a cake? Call a teacher!

The celebration was a big hit, and The Beef House never minds if you bring your own cake - they bring out plates and a big knife for cutting and let you celebrate away. We always ask the wait staff if they'd like a slice, and they are very happy to accept.

Lisa also helped us out by snapping a family photo.

Starting bottom left and going clockwise: Lukie, Vanessa, Curt, Craig, me, Steve, Cindie, Rick, Leslie, Jenny, Ian (who'd turned 10 the day before; his family party is tonight), Mila, and Lisa.

About half the cake was left so Leslie and I sorta, kinda, well, we did triple dog dare her to take it home, put it in her freezer and then bring it out for the annual family 4th of July party and bocce tournament, maybe with some blue sprinkles on it to make to more 4th of Julyish. After all, it's a red and white cake!

Jenny took us up on that dare and it is now in her freezer.

Stay 'tooned on that and for the story of the Fighting Stallion Leslie was holding!
