The last five or six hours of snowfall, the winds kicked up and the snow began drifting.
A drift next to Teacher Daughter Lisa's privacy fence is almost as tall as her fence!
I'm glad that this drift is not in our driveway, but I sure feel for the Howard family!
Unfortunately, my brother Steve, who lives out in the country by the barn, had a medical emergency yesterday while the storm was still dumping snow and winds on us.
Steve and Lisa working in the kitchen Thanksgiving Day.
Due to the bad roads, none of us could get out to him and he and his wife could not get into town, so my nephew had to call for an ambulance to get him to the emergency room. I haven't heard anything on his condition since late last night and hope to hear from Eric soon. (Good thoughts and prayers are welcome.)
This was our home last night. Compare it to the picture Craig took the night before (below) and you can see the drifting. (Look at how the drifts grow against the neighbor's home, under our garage light, our mailbox, and under our living room windows.)
Roads are still a mess, and schools and businesses are closed again today. And, it's going to be some time before things return to some semblance of normal. Temperatures are plummeting and we are expecting record cold temperatures of -18 to -22 below zero this weekend. (No doubt Pepper will decline her daily frisbee game again.)
I've got another "sew day" ahead of me as a result, but much as I love to sew, I am really looking forward to having "barn days" again.
