Since my sister no longer has any horses and no plans to change that, she has been giving me items that she hopes Tim or I can use. Recently I drove up to her farm and picked up some goodies from her.
Seven blankets and fly sheets, heated buckets, and a couple of trough heaters, one still new in box. And she's just beginning to clear out her barn.
Leslie also gave us something even better - her hay field.
It's where she pastured her own horses, and it has been lying fallow for thee years. She asked if we'd like to cut it for hay.
Needless to say, we jumped at her offer. Last year there was quite a shortage of hay and, while we got through the winter okay, we were still a little concerned at times. With Leslie's field, we have more than doubled the amount of hay we will be able to harvest this season.

Both hay fields are looking green and lush; I expect we will do the first cutting in a couple of weeks.
