The June Give Away Winner, the Horses, & the Dogs

It's time to spin the wheel and find out who the winner is of the June Give Away!

Congratulations and enjoy that sweet Lefton cow! I will be in touch and then get it into the mail for you today. Thanks to all who entered and look for another Give Away in July!

Abby Update

It's summer! And with just three horses and six large pastures to rotate through, the horses have an ample supply of forage.

The hay field has already had its first cutting and the round bales are beginning to be lined up for winter.

The horses are in wonderful shape and happy with life. (Two Socks is still at a trainer's barn.)

I had to laugh - the grass is so green and healthy, Abby even has a grass stain on her face!

Those eyes! They remind me of Egyptian eyes from the ancient world.

Sultanna and Abby watching me as I drive down the lane for home. I count my blessings that Abby is in such a beautiful place, a perfect place, for horses.

Pepper & Tammo Update

Tammo's visit with us is coming to an end in a week or so. That will be hard. Craig, Pepper, and I have become very attached to that goofy boy.

Pepper loves to play with him - here she is sitting on his two most favorite toys of all, daring Tammo to just try and take them away from her. (That's his tail and side you can see at the bottom of the picture.)

Teacher Daughter Lisa bought another set of his favorite toys just for him and we will be sending them home with Kyle so that Tammo can still play with them back home in Florida.

We will miss his silly (and very long) rolls in the grass when he goes outside. Kyle said midwestern grass is much softer than Florida grass and he thinks that is why Tammo loves to roll so much.

He has been good for Pepper. As a Seeing Eye Dog, she was trained to ignore other dogs and to bond with a human being. Tammo has gotten her to drop that aloofness to him and to play. She has come to enjoy his company and friendship.

And he has enjoyed having her around when he was a little unsure as to what we were doing and needed a little reassurance. ("Don't worry, buddy. We are heading over to visit Nashie and Mama. It's all good!")

We have told Kyle that Tammo is always welcome here if he ever needs a place for him to stay for a while again. In the meantime, Craig and I are going to cherish these last few days with Tammo before he heads back to his own home.

Tomorrow I will share about the sewing circle I attended where we deliberately set our fabrics on fire. Stay 'tooned!
