Back to Horses!

Christmas is still not yet all put away, but we are getting close. Close enough that I felt comfortable yesterday spending some time catching up with what has been happening in the hobby over the past ten days or so.

Because I was so busy with our own holiday celebrations, I did not participate in the inaugural Christmas on Mane Street, either as a vendor or as a shopper. But Danielle Feldman did. She is a long time hobby friend and I did check out her web site right after Christmas.

Aprons? Danielle makes aprons?? She had for Christmas on Mane Street! I loved the color, I loved the saying on the front pocket, and I ordered one on the spot.

"No shelf control," Teacher Daughter Lisa laughed aloud as she took my picture. "Describes you well, Mom," she said.

Breyer released this year's Collectors Club Holiday Surprise early again this year. It dropped December 23 and I was able to slip away from family activities and order one. (Speaking of no shelf control! Hah!)

Tannenbaum is a pretty holiday color on the Emma mold. Twenty-four were also made in black (Coal) and while that piece is the most valuable and sought after, I am hoping for blue or green. 

Despite having ordered shortly after the piece became available (two weeks ago tomorrow) I am one of those still waiting on mine. It is supposed to be delivered Tuesday. Fingers crossed.

Other models have arrived here and I have only just begun to open their boxes. When Breyer offered 30% off for Collectors Club members during the Warehouse Sale, I ordered a couple of pieces I'd been on fence about.

I've been a firm non-Stablemate collector for years, but the more Breyer shrinks down beloved Traditionals or adds new molds, the more I have become enamored of them.

I wasn't interested in the mystery surprise foal or the palomino Morgan.

I wanted the Cassidy. 

She even has a bit of pink on the snip on her nose.

A sweet looking mare all around, and one that, if it were a living, breathing horse, I'd want to walk out into the pasture and visit with it.

Finally, in other hobby catch-up news for me, Breyer has begun showing us models that will be found at BreyerFest this summer.

There's Break Out the Bubbles, the Event Stablemates. A set of four will be given to each VIP ticket holder, and one randomly to in-person General Admission and Online Stablemates Access ticket holders.

Bellini, a polo pony with blue and gold tail wraps on the modified TB mold. (I like this mold a lot.)

Mimosa, palomino tobiano pinto on the shrunk down Indian Pony. (A must-have for me!)

Cava, glossy daily bay on the Cantering Andalusian mold. (Pretty color, but a pass for me.)

Prosecco, a black snowflake Appaloosa on the Playful Draft Stallion mold. (I'm concerned that tail will make this model a shelf-eater - I have separate, smaller shelves for my Stablemates.)

Several Traditional pieces have also been revealed.

Get This Party Started, a Special Run for VIP and All Access ticket holders only. On the Croi mold; I'm not much of a pinto lover nor do I collect Croi.

For this next model, the Limited Edition Belesema Sapphire, I will be messing her name up forever.

I first read it as BENSEMA Sapphire, as in the name of my friend and fellow blogger, Susan BENSEMA Young! A pretty chestnut, she will be available to all ticket holders. (Sue, she's a must-have for you!)

We are expecting a massive winter storm this afternoon with heavy blowing and drifting snow and then possibly freezing rain on top of that. I won't be going anywhere after it starts, so I should be able to get the rest of Christmas put away (or most of it) as well as open a few more of those Breyer boxes.
