GLC Photo Show Series China EOY Awards

I received the End of the Year results for the GLC Photo Show China show and was pleased to see that many of my ponies did well.

Windsong Sherif - one of my most winning pieces and a true favorite of mine. I found him at an auction for $6. 

Nancy's Love - named after Nancy Falzone and Maureen Love. She does well in both photo and live shows.

Segovia - a 2004 BreyerFest Special Run. (I wish Breyer would bring back their porcelain/china lines!)

Countryside Stroll - one of those "hands-shaking-is-that-really-what-I-think-it-is" finds a few years ago. (It was.)

Pagosa Spurs - A Lenox that is a beautiful piece of art. I really like this piece.

Windsong Adelaide - along with an Amir, the first Hagen Renaker I ever had. In 1973 or 1974, my dad saw an ad in the newspaper for a horse collection that was being sold, and drove me to the the campus dorm room of a Purdue student where I bought Adelaide, Amir, and a couple of Hartlands. (Thanks, Dad!)

Mayberry - a Japan burro from Nancy Falzone's collection. He's got some flaws and a leg break, but Nancy is a friend and if it belonged to her, it's a black hole piece for me!

Tinker Toy - a beautiful piece and my favorite Cheval.

Very Afjordable - a Kristina Lucas piece. I'd have to double check, but I think only 17 or so were made. Kristina was at one of Nancy Falzone's pony parties and I bought him from her there. (2017)

I love the unrealistic/decorator classes because some of my favorite, quirky, never-be-a-halter-contender pieces can shine.

Poppet - my very first Freeman Leidy.

Barnum's Moonrise - a long searched for piece (decades) and when I finally found it, I didn't even quibble about price. This is a treasured piece and is a Metlox Poppytrail.

Barnum's Sunrise - a surprise to me when I found it paired with the grey on eBay. I'd heard rumors that there were some palominos on the mold, but I'd never seen one. Snapped him up, too, as fast as I could type.

And while the Barnum is a reference to P.T Barnum's circus, it is also a reference to Craig. In working on his family line, Mr. Genealogy discovered that P.T. Barnum is a relative on his mother's side! And more, that his cousin, one of my high school classmates, was a clown for years in the Barnum & Bailey Circus. How could I not use the name "Barnum"?

Stirrup Cup - won at Breakables at BreyerFest, 2012. (Look at the mane.) 

Won by Windsong Sherif who was named the Champion of the Americanware Show.

It really can function as a stirrup cup

and Pony Pal Mila has been known to use it! (She's 4 here - where has the time gone?)

There are two more EOYs to come - Resins and Customs. I only have one or two models in each of those shows and don't expect to get any EOY awards. But then, you never know!

Some New HR Tennessees

Hagen Renaker may have closed, but Hagen Renaker Tennessee is still going strong. 

Kristina Lucas Francis used unfinished pieces of the snail to produce Snarkle, a sparkly snail.

Since Snarkle is a collaboration between the original factory and HR Tennessee, he had his own special card for documentation purposes.

 

There were two test pieces and thirty-six Snarkles produced. 

The special run Canadian Goose gosling is also a collaboration piece. 

Kristina told Hagen Renaker Collectors Club members that the gosling was some of the last bisque pieces poured at the factory. The eyes were painted in California, too.

HR Tennessee has been selling the last of the completed HR merchandise that was in the factory via eBay.

Since I've had HRs in my collection since the 1970s, I decided I needed to also have one of their last pieces ever produced, too.

This yellow lab is now part of my collection.

(Okay, anyone else looking at that color and seeing Breyer's carmel palomino?? LOL)
