BreyerFest: Selling Show Aprons

BreyerFest is two and a half weeks away and the model horse hobby is in its usual pre-BreyerFest scramble. Hobbyists are finishing custom models to sell, prepping for the BreyerFest Live show, sorting and packing sales items... The list goes on.

I'm not one of those prepping for BreyerFest. My rush and scramble was in April when I was working to meet the deadline to complete my virtual seminar and send it in to Breyer. And since I'm not going to BreyerFest, I have no need to be sorting sales models or finishing haversacks to sell. But I am being affected by BreyerFest nonetheless. 

Due to Breyer's advertising of the virtual seminars, I am getting requests to make live show aprons.

I thought I might get requests for them after BreyerFest, but I did not anticipate that happening before folks had seen the video during BreyerFest.

I am not complaining.

Just surprised. (Barn Buddy Kelsey has those pockets stuffed full.)

I have a tub of leftover pieces of fabric 

and making show aprons is an excellent way to use those remnants.

I've finished all apron and haversack orders

so now I can get back to sewing 18th century clothing.

Because The Feast of the Hunters' Moon is fast approaching!

12 Days of Christmas Aprons

I have two favorite Christmas songs - O Come, All Ye Faithful and The Twelve Days of Christmas. (Really disparate, aren't they?)

That love showed up last December when I wrote a series of blog posts titled, The Twelve Days of Horsey Christmas. (I see my missing Christmas tree in those photos - where on earth did I put it when I finished taking those pictures??)

With ten Pony Pals visiting for the holidays I decided to embroider them all aprons using the song as a theme and include Craig and me to make twelve.

Six geese a'laying (Craig wasn't thrilled to be a goose laying eggs, but the only other alternative was eight maids a milking! Haha!)

Ten Lords a'leaping

Eleven pipers piping

Twelve drummers drumming

We tried to get all twelve of us together at once for a photo but it always turned out like this. But that's okay - we had fun wearing them, cooking in them, and best of all, just being together for the holiday.

Dear Readers

Dear Readers, 

Happy chaos is reigning here at the moment. The Thanksgiving guests have begun arriving.

 

Five of the ten grands who will be with us for the holiday have arrived. That's Titan, Susie, Cambria, Julie, and Kate with Craig and me wearing the 12 Days of Christmas aprons I made us.

All five of the dogs that were expected are here and already on the hunt for food. (Pepper, Blue, Nash, Molly, and Rhett frisking Lisa.)

My office has a queen sized airbed smack dab in the middle of it and happy grands who love coming to see my collection. (Kate was SO EXCITED to see I have Cupcake on my shelf. "I have that one!" she crowed.) I can barely walk through the room to get to my computer.

Despite having posts drafted, they are not complete and I have not been able to finish them. I tried - I got up early but the dogs needed to go out and then be fed. And then they wanted out again. When we came back in, the cowpokes and pony pals were up and ready to play. 

I will finish those drafts ASAP. Stay 'tooned!
