A Surprise in the Mail

Since I did not have permission at the time to share my friend's name when I was writing this post, I only used her first initial. I have it now and I am happy to share that it was Diana Dubbeld who was the gracious giver. 

As Diana said in her message back to me, "Aw, yes, you can use my name. Random acts of clinky kindness need to happen more often."

I agree, Diana, and I hope that maybe, just maybe, you have started a trend. Thanks again!

Huzzah! The first five years of BreyerFest are researched and written! I just need to proof read and tweak and then the plan is  to begin publishing this weekend. Five BreyerFests down, twenty more to go. Easy peasy, right? (Hah!)

I recently got a surprise box in the mail from a friend. Puzzled, I opened it and gasped when I saw what was inside.

It is so pretty and I am thrilled to have it. But why did she send it? I messaged her on Facebook, thanked her, and then asked.

Diana explained that it was a thank you gift for something. Wow, I'd call that a very generous thank you gift.

Thanks so much, Diana. I love the Hagen Renaker Circus Ponies and this will be a wonderful addition to my collection. I'm putting a little tag on its belly so I will know that it had once been yours.

That tag will forever serve as a reminder of a kind and generous friend.

Thanks again. I love it.

BreyerFest Loot and Good Friends

I am lucky to have good friends, and one of them is Liz Cory. Knowing that I have not been feeling well for about a year and was not up to BreyerFest, she did some pick ups for me.

Sierra Rose, Winner's Circle Autograph Adios, and Straight Bet! And she tucked the program in for me as well!

The PAM and Adios are vintage molds which is the focus of my collection. But I love the new Duende (Spanish Stallion) mold so I asked her to get one of those if she could.

The BreyerFest model I am REALLY in love with, though, is the Pacer. I love him so much that I got two of them!

This is the one from Liz that I already have in hand. Just look at that color!!

So why did I get two of the same mold? Well, there are several reasons.

One reason is because this is absolutely the best color on the Pacer that Breyer has ever done. (At least, in my opinion.) Plus, this gorgeous color is on a vintage mold.

Secondly, my sister, Leslie, has a passion for standardbreds and has owned several - the breed always makes me think of her. She uses them at The Farm at Prophetstown where they are ambassadors for the breed. I can't help but link my sister and the Pacer mold together.

But most importantly, Sue's horse was a kind and thoughtful surprise - she had an opportunity to get one, and knowing that I love vintage molds coupled with her own love of tack making, Foiled Again in his green halter was the perfect find! Sue's thinking of me when she was in the midst of model horsedom's biggest event touched me, so when she emailed me from BreyerFest and asked if I wanted her to get it for me, my response was a resounding YES! 

I love my models and collecting them, and all the facets of the model horse hobby. But even better are the good friends you make within the hobby. Thank you, Liz and Sue!
