Wrapping Up the Holiday Sewing

 Second Post of the Day

Heads up, folks! Tomorrow I have to go with someone to the hospital for surgery and will be picking them up around 5:00 AM. If you don't see a blog post Thursday, that's why. I should be back here Friday.

Also, the red poinsettia blankets are all spoken for and I've contacted those who got one. I actually made a wait list - after all, Breyer has already sent me one unexpected blanket. If I receive any more, I'll go through that wait list.

Just after Thanksgiving, I got out my embroidery machine and got busy making tea towels and free standing lace ornaments for gifts.

I think freestanding lace is really pretty.

Teacher Daughter Lisa reads Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol aloud to her students every year. Then she hosts a classroom party celebrating Scrooge's reformation. She and her kiddos have a banquet of 19th century food (Lisa's love of reenacting shows here, doesn't it!) and the students create characters who come in costume to celebrate with Mr. Scrooge.

Lisa always gives her students an ornament to remember the book and banquet by. And I make them for her.

As they come off the machine, I line them up and triple count them before I stop embroidering. I'd hate to short a child of their ornament!

Then I rinse them of their stabilizer, trim any loose threads, and iron them so they lie flat.

For the final step, I cut lengths of ribbon and make a loop through the top of the ornament for hanging.

The Scrooge party is today and I cannot wait to hear how it goes. Lisa's principal is joining them as Mr. Scrooge himself! Should be a wonderful party as well as learning experience.

When I'd completed all the ornaments and tea towels I'd wanted to make this year, I put the embroidery machine away and resumed my sewing projects.

I'd discovered that I was short a few stockings and so I am working on those now.

I picked this fabric specifically because a couple of the dogs look like Tammo. Whichever grand ends up with this stocking will be very happy.

I should be able to finish the stockings this morning, then my plan is to write tomorrow's blog post and finish getting those ornaments on the tree.

Another busy day. Wish me luck!

And the Winner is...

Second Post of the Day

Actually, that title should be, "And the Winners Are..."

Not only are there two winners for the tea towels, but if you had entered the December Give Away and did not win anything this morning, be sure to keep reading below. There is something for you, too!

So, let's spin to win!

Congratulations! Please let me know which tea towel you'd like to have and confirm the address where I should mail it to you.

And the second winner is...

As soon as the first winner chooses, I will get yours packed up and in the mail, too.

Entered and didn't win? Don't despair, I have several Christmas blankets going spare. LOL

Anyone who didn't win this month despite having entered can have one for free. Email your mailing address to me at horsiemama8@gmail.com and I'll pop one into the mail for you.

And with that, we end the 2024 Give Aways. Thanks to all who participated and Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Happy Holidays to you all!
