A Different Sort of Riding

When I was a kid, Hoppity Hop balls were first introduced. We'd bounce around the yard and yes, we pretended that they were horses that we were riding (and jumping) across the fields.
Hoppity Hops were fun, but they did not look remotely horsey like these do.
Pony Pals Kate and Julie got to go riding at a fall festival in Tennessee. That's my youngest son, Cole, walking with them.
Julie nearly wipes out in the turn
but straightens out her mount and off they go again!
Oh, sweet Kate, it's a good thing that your horse is rubber; if you held onto the ear of a real horse like that, you would find yourself on the ground very fast.
A stranglehold on the neck seems to work, at least on a rubber horse.
Oops! Kate got dumped anyway - I guess even rubber horses don't like to have their ears pulled!

Riding these rubber horses looked like so much fun, and far better than the Hoppity Hops of my childhood.
And now Grammy wants to ride, too!
