Tucked in among the various models that I had stored in the closet were some Stablemates. Despite not really being a collector of this scale, there are some that I have actively sought out for my collection.
Naturally I have Trixie, the circus pony from BreyerFest 2006. There were 3,050 of these sets produced. They can be a little harder to find, especially with all four rings, the headpiece, and the bareback pad intact.
The Mini-Fanfare holiday set from Breyer's JAH in 2004 is highly sought after.
Just as I like the Traditional horse and rider sets, I like the Stablemate horse and wagon sets. And just as I learned with those horse and rider sets, these stay in the box. Untacking/tacking up on these tiny pieces is hard plus I want to keep all the pieces intact.
I especially wanted the Doctor's Buggy, and not just because Tim has one in the barn. My great-great grandfather, Dr. White, was a doctor in Kansas in the late 1800s and his medical bag has been passed down through my family for at least 150 years. I recently passed it on to Hawkeye Sarah.
The Country Fair wagon was also a must-have as it was a reminder of my family's apple orchard. (I'm fond of that pig, too.)
In the last of the "littles" found in those tubs is a Hartland oddity.
I'd need to go through my papers and find my notes about this Stablemate-scale resin Seabiscuit, but if I remember correctly, it was made by Hartland and distributed by someone else. But don't quote me on that.
Not in those boxes but stored in the closet on its own is a 1998 JAH Stablemates gift set of 12 pieces. I'll try to get that photographed the next time I am going through the things in that closet. (Photo from Identify Your Breyer and can be found here.)
