45th Anniversary Celebration: It Begins

To celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary, our kids threw a week long party/reunion for our entire family. Sadly, Beach Son Kyle and his family had COVID and could not join us; we missed them terribly. So, instead of a gathering of 28 Isenbargers, we only had 21, but it was still wonderful.

The celebration began in Iowa City at Sarah and Todd's home. Horse Buddy Trinity had even put up decorations for us.

As families arrived from across the country, they were greeted at the door by those already there.

Since arrival day was also Emily's birthday, their family was greeted with a song, too.

Along with cake and ice cream! (That's Emily in the orange tee shirt.)

This is a familiar sight when our family gets together - we use plastic cups. We put our names on them and reuse then.

Another typical sight - shoes scattered across the floor.

We did a lot of activities together - here we are  watching a movie in Sarah and Todd's basement.

A night's worth of snacks for the family.

What happens when 21 Isenbargers walk into a restaurant?

The restaurant's status online changes - did we ever laugh about that! (And the wait people at that restaurant were fabulous and undeterred by the size of our group.)

We played table games like telephone and pass the penny to keep the grands occupied while we waited for our food.

Of course, we took family photos - this is us with all the cowpokes and pony pals who were there.

There is one in every family, right? Five of our six kids from left to right: Sarah, Jessica, Cole, Lisa, and Curt. There is a series of photos of Craig and me with our in-loves, but those have not yet been shared to our family album so I can't post them. But I will in a future post.

It was quite a week and, it had horses in it, so stay 'tooned!
