Where to Start?

I am sitting here without Kate and Susie to chat with me while I write, Pepper and Tammo are napping, and it's early in the day - my favorite time to write.

And I have no idea where to begin.

Should I continue my BreyerFest History posts? I only got through about half of them. But, in the malware crash of my computer, I lost a lot of files, including those that had taken me hours to prepare.

Right now I don't have the energy or the time to drag out all the boxes in the closet and scan in photos of past BreyerFests. Maybe I will return to that topic next spring.

Also lost are the 2024 and 2025 financial spreadsheets from both Jolis Chevaux and Horsiemama's Mercantile. That is really bothering me - I can reconstruct inventory sheets (also lost) but the financial records? No. I'm still trying to figure out what I can do but I may simply just start over with a zero balance.

The one that really dismayed me was losing Abby's file - twelve years of photos and videos of her.

I spent a lot of time working on finding that one and the other lost files and fortunately was able to retrieve many of them. Interesting, I can't find any files beyond 2023 in any of them. I am thinking that may be a clue and will talk to Craig about it. (I use the cloud as back up, too, but they are not there.)

So, here's my plan. I may be doing two posts a day for a while because:

~ I'd like to record all the fun and activities our family has had for the past two weeks. (That will be a lot of blog entries.)

~ I've got a Dogs of Our Lives post (or two) percolating around in my mind.

~ I have a couple of 2025 BreyerFest posts to share.

~ Last November I began a new series of birthday posts for family members, and in the chaos fun that's been going on, I neglected to write about either Craig or Cole's special days. And Kyle's birthday is tomorrow! That will be added to the catching up.

~ Of course there is the neglected "Collections within My Collection" series plus some sewing that's been done that I'd like to write about. (Remember I mentioned Jane Austen? Yep! It's happening!)

So, back to normal and playing catch up.

But still, it's kind of lonely here in my office without my chatter bug girls to keep me company.

Sigh.

Stay 'tooned for a probable second post later today.

  1. Computer crashes are the worst! I do hope you are able to retrieve your Abby file. Each of those images is doubly precious now.

I think you can put off whatever you want. Something to look forward to for next year's Breyerfest. Or those rare slow times when you run out of ideas.
