Happy Trails is the annual pony party/model horse show I hold in my home every year. Originally held to celebrate my retirement from teaching, it now celebrates vintage models and good friends. This year's show is happening Saturday.
I've been preparing for it on and off while I sewed the riding habits. Some days, I just needed to put the fabrics down and take a break from the sewing machine. It is surprising how much prep I got done piecemeal like that.
The swag bags are filled and ready to go.
And the ribbons are sorted and counted to be sure I have enough. I use real ribbons that are recycled from other shows - as a show entrant, I prefer real ribbons over paper ones so I give what I would like to receive.
The rosettes are ready for the two division champions and reserves and the collectors class winners.They are mammoth in size! These were originally dog show ribbons that a live show host modified and then were donated to me by their winner.
At every Happy Trails show I have a vintage model that I've spray painted gold for entrants to sign. On the docket for today is to spray paint this year's autograph horse.
I made a last minute switch from a black Stretch Morgan (I have other plans for him) to this beat up Oxydol that I found on eBay. (The unicorn was a surprise gift tossed in by the seller.)
I also need to bring the Happy Trails tub and other things for the show downstairs; currently they're sitting here in my office.
But I can't do that yet because also on today's docket is having the downstairs carpets cleaned this morning.
I will work on Happy Trails prep all day today and tomorrow, and then Friday will be last minute errands and set up.
I can't wait until Saturday!
