There was heavy smoke in the air all day yesterday - you could even smell it.
We sit out and enjoy our patio a lot during the summer and early fall,
but with skies greyed by smoke and drifting particulates, we aren't risking it right now.
Our air quality index has dropped a bit and while we are still in the bracket for Unhealthy, yesterday we were at the top of that bracket at Very Unhealthy and just under the line for Hazardous.
Who'd have thought that wildfires in another country could affect us so badly? I have never experienced anything like this.
The air quality today is still very poor but it is improving.
It's going to be another indoor day.
The Detroit area was all the way up in Hazardous yesterday. The air was very thick and hazy. I had to spend a little time outdoors and I could really feel it in my eyes and the back of my throat. It's better today. Checking air quality isn't something I'm used to doing!
ReplyDeleteI heard they had to (or almost had to?) cancel racing in New York on Belmont weekend! My mind is boggled. Here in Southern California, we’ve gotten smoke, but it’s from our own wildfires, not another country’s!
