Visiting Black Percherons

Mountain Mama Jessica took Pony Pal Cambria and Cowpoke Titan out to see some black Percherons yesterday. The farm produces lavender for essential oils, but it's also an event center and raises black Percherons, too.

The younger horses were out in the paddocks where Jessica and the kids had a chance to visit with them. This big boy was interested in Titan's hat.

Cambria isn't shy when it comes to horses and has begun "teaching" her mama how to be around them. She chided Jessica for not letting a horse smell her hand before petting it.

Yes, Cambria, I wouldn't be surprised if this young filly did want you around forever.

Two years ago Jessica took me to see these Percherons during a visit and I met this 18.2 hand gelding, Riggs.

He is the biggest horse I have ever encountered, and I'm not short at 5'6"! But he was calm and gentle despite his size, and enjoyed the attention we gave him.

I hope to head out to Utah next spring for a visit, and going out to see the black Percherons is definitely on my list of things I want to do!
