Breyer - the News Keeps Happening!

I spent Tuesday with Teacher Daughter Lisa and her dog, Millie. Sadly, Millie had to be euthanized. She was elderly and we knew it was coming, but still...

Rest in peace, sweet girl. We will miss you and your antics terribly.

Breyer is very busy right now and has been sending out lots of news and information. First, the Christmas Special, Jol, has been arriving in hobbyists' homes.

There were three colors, clear, red, and teal, and I received the clear. (Photo from Breyer's web site.)

I like them all and would've been happy with any of them, but I was hoping for the clear one. 1500 (500 of each color) were produced, but there is also a bonus of 12 Coals - an all black Christmas model that were sent at random. The Coal that was sent out, though, was not the Icelandic Horse in glossy black as we all assumed it would be.

Instead, it was done on the Galiceno mold, a vintage mold by Chris Hess. That is not a very popular mold, and a lot of disappointment has been expressed on social media, both by those who received one and those who thought they might like to purchase one second hand. In other news, Breyer made three announcements in two days regarding BreyerFest.

The Celebration model is to be Danash's Northern Tempest (Dani), a Friesian/Appaloosa mare who performs in the hunter ring.

She will be done on the True North/Cantering Warmblood mold and I think she is lovely. The hobby response has been very positive and receptive about her selection.

Later that same day, Breyer also announced that BreyerFest 2021 would be a virtual event again. That was received with a lot of approval from hobbyists, although there was some grumbling, too. (For the record, I think it was the right decision.)

Finally, Breyer announced a restructuring of the tickets and what each ticket will give you. (Ticket grid from Breyer's announcement.) There are still a lot of questions about the changes, but Breyer has promised that more information will be coming soon.

One bit of information that is lacking, and has always been announced well before now - what are the models for the 2021 Vintage Club?

We have only seen this photo of Julius, which is a vintage color on a very new mold. But what are the other offerings?

And when will Vintage Club members receive the 2020 bonus stablemate? (Both photos by Breyer.)

I've been buying Breyers for 50+ year and my experience has always been positive, so I am not concerned about getting my Stablemate. It will come eventually. But I do find it odd that they have not shown Vintage Club members any teaser photos yet.

There are those who say it's because Breyer has been so busy recently, and there is some truth in that. But, I still can't help but wonder why they have released photos to the other Collector Clubs and have not for the Vintage Club.

I hope the Vintage Club is not going under. It's my favorite club!
