If you've watched the move, A Christmas Story, then you've seen the scene where Randy's mother REALLY wraps him up to keep him warm while he walks to school.
He ends up falling onto his back, can't get up, and starts crying, "I can't get up! I can't get up!" Luckily his brother Ralphie stops and helps him get to his feet and on to school.
Last night I had a moment of, "I can't get up!" while out to dinner with Craig and Lisa.
We'd finished and were getting ready to leave. My jacket was hanging on my chair behind me, so I slipped my arms through the sleeve holes and zipped it closed.
It felt much tighter than usual - what was up with that? And then, when I tried to stand up, I couldn't. I'd zipped myself onto the chair!
We all started laughing and Lisa pulled out her phone and began taking pictures while I sat there momentarily trapped in my chair.
We laughed so hard, I thought I was going to cry.
Luckily it was an easy fix - unzip, stand up, zip up again - and we were heading home.
Speaking of "I can't get up," today's Yuletide Challenge is, A model lying down and taking a break.
I took a little liberty with that prompt.
Pepper had just retired from guiding and only been with us a week. She had wagged her tail too close to the shelves and the entire shelf of models tumbled over, some to the floor.
I didn't use the Seeing Eye word that means she has really done something wrong. ("Phooey!!") I didn't tell her that she was a bad dog. I did nothing except pet and reassure her. Why?
She was fresh out of harness and her Guide Dog training was still very much in place. She knew she wasn't supposed to knock things off shelves, and she was very upset with herself that she had. I spoke softly to her, petted her, and quietly let her know that things were fine. It was an accident and she was a good girl.
Six years later Pepper has never, ever knocked anything off my shelves or anywhere else in the house.
Good girl, Pepper!
