"This is a Fun Day! And a Funny One!"

After spending a couple of weeks with us, Kyle went home to Florida and drove his family to Indiana so that they, too, could spend some time with us. Just before they headed back to Florida, Braden pulled me aside and reminded me of a family tradition we had neglected.

"Grammy, we haven't had our marshmallow fight yet. We always have one when we are together!"

He was right - we do. From marshmallow guns, marshmallow bows and arrows, surprise attacks when people arrive by jumping out of the bushes, we love our family marshmallow fights.

Our marshmallow guns and bows and arrows were broken, but luckily I had a bag of big marshmallows for s'mores in the pantry.

The fight was ON!

Cory gets ready to lob one at my backside while I gather "ammunition" off the ground.

Son versus Father (Braden and Kyle)

SOME family members preferred to watch - and eat our ammo.

Marshmallows flew all over and were found later in some of the oddest places!

I took a break with Craig and discovered something.

He was hoarding marshmallows and then pelting people as they ran by in a sneak attack!

Melissa summed our day up well. Can you hear her? ("This is a fun day. And a funny day!")

Like I said, this is a long-standing family tradition. Go here to see a blog post of Braden and my mom shooting marshmallows with bows and arrows in 2013. She was an active participant in our marshmallow fights. (Our water fights, too.)

Shooting inside my home.

He wanted to teach her how to shoot but she surprised him - she taught archery in college and even in her 80s was still a great shot!
